  • for MONDAY October 11

    -- Have read in Holt Handbook pp. 23 (example comparison/contrast thesis), 86-88 (example essay), and 118(#6)-120 (example ¶s)
    -- We will begin outlining and drafting Paper #1. I will assign you to peer groups.
    -- Type out and bring to class your tentative thesis; bring at least 3 copies (one for me, two for your group). Include any ideas or evidence that you want to use in your paper; help each other in your groups to evaluate your proposed evidence, and possibly suggest changes.

    -- Have read in Holt Handbook pp.105-107 and 123-24 on transitions

  • for FRIDAY October 15

    -- Have read in Holt Handbook pp. 396(3), 386-87, and 530-534 on passive and active voices
