    -- Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin In the Sun Acts 2 & 3 in M pp.402-441

  • for THURDAY September 15

    Have read, taken notes on, and be ready to discuss:
    --anything left over from A Raisin in the Sun (doubtful, but just in case)
    -- Sophocles' Antigone in M pp.733-70; we'll get through as much of the play and its dramtic elements as possible.
    -- We will also discuss the parameters for Essay #1 (see Essay 1 site)
    -- reviw "Writing About Drama" ("Collection 1 "Drama" library reserve)/online PDF from last week.

  • for TUESDAY September 20

    -- we'll finish with Sophocles' Antigone, and review for the drama quiz.
    SPECIAL EVENT: Eastern Shore novelist John Barth (The Floating Opera, End of the Road, The Sot-Weed Factor, etc.) will speaek at 8 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of Guerreri Center. He's a fine novelist with a wicked sense of humor. Take advantage of this opportunity to see a locally and nationally-famous author speak about his craft!

    -- rough draft of Essay #1 due, to my office (Holloway 344), by 4 p.m. Double check that you've followed all requirements set out in the assignment (see Essay 1 site)
