for TUESDAY 13 November -- PAPER #2 FINAL DRAFT DUE IN MY MAILBOX BY 4 P.M. (in folder with previous drafts that I've marked and with revision checklist from rough draft; stapled, pages numbered and in correct order, proofread and edited, with cover sheet -- see example cover sheet in packet)
for WEDNESDAY 14 November
-- we'll continue our discussion of Gail T. Houston's chapter "Feminist Criticism," packet pp.135-145
for FRIDAY 16 November
-- have read Sandra Cisneros' novel The House on Mango Street. As I've warned before, don't deceive yourself about the novel's brevity -- Cisneros achieves much with few words. We'll begin discussing Cisneros' novel in terms of feminist critique, with an eye toward Paper #3.

for WEDNESDAY 21 November
-- for those who haven't run off for what the Native Tribes call "Oh-hello-English-folk-are-you-staying-for-very-long?" Day (and who doesn't love Eddie Izzard?), we'll finish discussion of The House on Mango Street.
for FRIDAY 23 November -- off for "Who-are-all-those-fellows-in-feathers-and-why-do-they-look-so-glum?" Day. Drive carefully, and stay away from the turkey skin -- that's where all the fat is.

Bring in any revisions made to your thesis statement and/or outline in light of peer group review; bring in a sample page or two from Paper #3 for us to go over; bring in any questions you may have about the paper (but make them focused questions, not just general "how'm I doing?" questions).

for FRIDAY 30 November -- ROUGH DRAFT PAPER #3 DUE
-- bring to class a pre-edited and -proofread full rough draft of Paper #3 for peer review (a copy for me and a few for your group); use peer group comments/suggestions to start revising this draft on your own over the weekend while waiting to get my comments back on Monday 12/3.
Note: in light of Wednesday's readings in WR and class discussion, you should include on a sheet separate from the rest of your draft three different versions of your introduction and conclusions, from the strategies listed in WR. I mean three totally different approaches to introducing and concluding your paper, not just three intros and conclus where you've only changed the sentence order. Have group members help you decide which version seems to work best.

for MONDAY 3 December
-- bring in any revisions to Paper #3 that you made based on peer group comments.
for WEDNESDAY 5 November
-- final peer review.

If you wish your paper returned to you during the winter break, please include a 9x12" self-addressed envelope with at least $1 in postage with your paper. Do not pop a dollar in the envelope and expect me to get you a stamp -- I'll consider that dollar a contribution to my birthday fund. Neither expect me to cram your paper into any smaller envelope.

You can of course turn in your paper to my mailbox any time/day before the 10th; the 10th at 4 p.m. is the last day/time to turn it in.
